As part of the Audit2Action strategy, AUDIT2MEASURE has developed tools designed to facilitate companies in their journey toward climate neutrality by effectively implementing energy-saving measures.
The ESM Database: A Comprehensive Resource for Companies
The ESM database serves as a centralized repository of energy-saving measures derived from energy audits and case-studies across various industries.
The database provides companies with easy access to a wide range of energy efficiency measures that have been successfully implemented in similar contexts. Each measure is accompanied by detailed descriptions and key performance indicators (KPIs), enabling businesses to assess the potential impact on their energy consumption and costs. As a benchmarking tool, the database allows companies to compare their current practices with documented measures.
Users can filter the database by industrial sector, country, technology (e.g., compressed air, waste heat recovery, drives, building envelope), and company size to find the most relevant solutions. Continuously updated and expanded through case studies from AUDIT2MEASURE activities, the database remains a dynamic and valuable resource for fostering energy efficiency improvements.

The Energy Management Maturity Model: A Step Towards ISO 50001
The Energy Management Maturity Model is a tool designed to help industrial companies assess their energy management practices, identify gaps and prioritize improvement areas, following the ISO 50001 standards. The Model provides a structured self-assessment framework to evaluate the energy management maturity of a company across seven key categories: Organizational Context, Leadership, Planning, Support, Operations, Performance Evaluation and Improvement.
Each of these categories is further broken down into 25 tasks and more than 80 subtasks. For each sub-task, a maturity score is assigned based on a scale from 0 (indicating no activity or awareness) to 4 (indicating well-developed and tested activities).
The model uses maturity levels to indicate how well-developed a company’s energy management practices are:
- Informal (0-20): Minimal or no structured energy management activities.
- Documented (20-40): Some documentation exists but lacks integration with other business processes.
- Integrated (40-60): Energy management activities are integrated with regular business operations.
- Strategic (60-80): Energy management is viewed as a strategic activity, with goals aligning closely to business objectives.
- Optimized (80-100): Energy management practices are optimized for continuous improvement and innovation.
The Model serves as a roadmap for companies willing to improve their energy efficiency and align their operations with ISO 50001 standards, offering structured feedback for progress and a pathway for continuous development in energy management practices.
